Today is a great day in the Currie household - its the first day of summer vacation for their kids! It is also great news because Christy got some very encouraging news yesterday. To give some back story, Christy found out a year ago that she had a tumor on her thyroid. Through extensive tests and evaluations, it was revealed that she was on the verge of thyroid cancer. She and Jason decided not to take any action, but to watch it and treat it as things arose. Well, yesterday she got confirmation that she does not have thyroid cancer in addition to the breast cancer, and that actually, the tumor has shrunk! This is incredible news - Christy is taking high doses of nutritional supplements and there is a good possibility that they have already started making a big impact on her body. It is still important that she go through chemotherapy, though, as she doesn't want to take any risks. She's a young mother, and they have decided to do all things possible to eliminate the cancer entirely.
Last weekend the Curries moved into their "summer home" - a temporary living situation while they wait for their new house to be completed sometime in August. They actually closed on their new property yesterday, which is very exciting! Jason's sister and two sisters'-in-law came out to Omaha to help them with their move. Thank you to them and to everyone else who pitched in!
Christy begins chemo on June 2nd, and we will see how things go from there. I will keep you updated on how things are progressing and how she's feeling.
As of now, there are a few ways that you can help,
First of all, a meal schedule has been set up to help provide three meals a week for the Currie family. Here is a link to that:

*Please note that all food must be strictly gluten free.
Secondly, an account has been set up at Pinnacle Bank for the Curries, with all donated funds going to help cover the medical costs. You an go into any branch and make a donation. This is the account number: #2206112528
Thank you so much for the help already! Again, if you have any questions, you can email me at kjberkenkemper@liberty.edu. I have a daughter who needs to eat strictly gluten free as well, so if you need help with meal ideas, just shoot me an email and I can help!
Thank your everyone!!!

Life has been pretty silent as Christy recovered from surgery. Both her and Jason's parents came in to help her while she's recovered. The experience was quite painful for her, but she really is recovering well.
The start date for her chemotherapy had been set at June 2nd. She will go in for treatment every other week for 6 weeks and undergo what is known as the "red devil." It is a fierce form of chemo that is really difficult to endure. After that time period, she will change to weekly infusions of a different form that is easier for her body to handle.
A few weeks ago the Curries were able to buy a house! The home is actually still under construction and won't be completed till the end of August. A good friend of theirs has generously offered a house for them to live in until they move into their new home over the summer and they are moving in this weekend. Some of you may not know, but shortly before Christy was diagnosed, her daughter Summer was diagnosed with an immune/lung disease known as Hyper IgE Syndrome. She has been fighting it for a long time, but only recently was able to identify it. Therefore, to help Summer live the healthiest life possible, she needs to live in an allergy free environment and a new or recently built home is the best option for them. So, we praise the Lord that he provided a home that meets the needs of their entire family just at the right time!
Thank you for your continued prayer for the Currie family. Zane recently celebrated his 5th birthday and Summer's 8th birthday is coming up. I (Christy's sister) will be flying out to Omaha to spend her first week of chemo with her, and this will be the first time I'll have the opportunity to be with her since it all began. Their whole family has been such a testimony of God's faithfulness, and I praise Him for this opportunity for His name to be praised!
Please continue to pray:
1. That the Lord would give Christy strength as she begins chemo
2. That fear would not enter into the doors of the Currie house
Thank you so much for everything you've done; the prayers, the meals, and your outpouring of love has just been incredible. THANK YOU!
